Reap What You Sow: Seed Face & Body Care Beneficial Blend Box review

I’ll begin this review with a question, and I’m going to need you to be honest with yourself: are you perfectly happy with your current beauty routine?

If your immediate answer isn’t “yes,” then ask yourself, why aren’t you satisfied with what you have? Are the products not working for you? Are they too pricey, or hard to obtain? Or maybe you like how they perform, but you shudder when you read over the ingredients list? I’ll admit that for me it’s a combination of all these reasons. That’s why I blog about beauty, constantly trying out new products in the hope that I’ll discover my next “holy grail” that checks off all the above specifications.

And guess what? I think I may have found it…

There’s a relatively small, “indie” company based out of New Jersey called Seed Face & Body Care that is hoping to help us eternally seeking souls. If your idea of the ideal product is pure, clean, vegan, cruelty-free, plant-based formulas that avoid common allergens, then you need to see what they have to offer.

Seed was founded by Rebecca and Benjamin Gournay in 2009, just as they were trying to start a family. They decided that going natural was right for them, as so many of us do these days (as my long-time reader, you’ll have noticed I’ve been on this road for some time now, too). They also decided that their new product line would be accessible and affordable, which I’m grateful for; so many “eco-luxe” brands are charging an arm and a leg for less than impressive formulas, but not so with Seed. The Seed Beneficial Blend Box pictured here is their new monthly subscription service, which contains at least one full retail size product, 2-3 products in that month’s featured Blend, and themed gifts, samples, and exclusive discounts for just $19.95* per month for the six month subscription. Not bad, right?

The featured Blend for May’s Seed Beneficial Blend Box was Dream Land, created to help customers achieve “dreamy good nights.” The products are scented with 100% pure lavender, ginger, and lemon essential oils, which are known to induce healing, restful sleep. The gentle aromas alleviate sleep disturbance and turbo-charge your beauty sleep, so you wake up feeling perfectly at ease. My box contained a full sized 118 mL Body Oil ($16.95*), a 60 mL Body Cream, and a 2.5 oz Bath Blossom ($4.95). The box practically pays for itself! It also came with a generous sample and a personalized discount.

I put these products to the test right after returning from a long trip which involved lots of sleepless nights and plenty of jetlag, and was immediately impressed. The Body Cream, for starters, proved perfect as a thick cream for tired hands. My paws appreciated the aloe juice, shea butter, and variety of oils that the cream is made from. The fragrance was primarily of lavender and lemon, but I could smell the green tea extract in the formula as well, so it made for a steeped cup of tea kind of scent (Rebecca pointed out that their green tea extract is actually scentless – placebo effect, maybe?). I used the Body Oil on the rest of my body, and besides the gentle scent it gave me a subtle, healthy sheen. Just like the Body Cream, the Body Oil sank in immediately and wasn’t greasy. I love the added boost of Vitamin E in the formula, which is composed of 100% pure essential oils.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I’ve always been afraid of mixing my own essential oils. There’s something intimidating about ending up with an unusable concoction, so I’m very glad that besides Dream Land, Seed has a selection of other Blends you can try, like For Him (not the most creative name, but we’ll let it slide). For Him features orange essential oil, noted for its antidepressant and anti-inflammatory properties, clary sage essential oil, which is an effective wound healing agent, and coriander essential oil, which deodorizes and relieves pain. This Blend is great for keeping you (or your man) both fresh and healthy, and you gotta love that. Also available in pH balanced Body Wash, enriched Body Lotion, and 100% plant-based Lip Oil. The aroma was gentle and well balanced, herbal with hints of citrus. I would say it’s definitely a unisex fragrance.

So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and check out Seed Face & Body Care and discover the power of essential oils and healthy, wholesome formulas. Oh, and did I mention their packaging is recyclable? Like, could they get any more perfect?!
