Yesterday I received the following launch updates from MAC Cosmetics’ Canadian PR office, and I wanted to share with you in case you were interested in picking up any of the items. I’ve covered a couple of MAC’s previous releases in the past, which you can find here. I will update this post with swatches and product shots in the case that any samples make their way to me.
MAC Diwali Light Festival
This collection only features one single product, the Eye Shadow x 9 palette in Light Festival. The shades in the palette are meant to celebrate the flicker of flames and fireworks, including a bright blue, gold, purple and orange. Retailing for $42*, it is available online now or in store from October 6th to November 17th.
MAC Studio QuikTrik Stick
If you can’t get your hands on the Christian Dior DiorBlush Light & Contour sticks, this might be a good alternative. Three shades meant for highlighting, contouring, bronzing or adding a pop of color. Double-ended for convenience of use and travel, they launch online October 13th and in store from October 20th to December 15th.
We’ve seen previews of these on Instagram a few months ago, but they’re finally here! These eye shadows contain black ionized pigments that are magnetically charged, so they reform no matter how much you dig into the product. Gimmicky? We shall see. Available online October 13th and in store from October 20th to December 1st in metallic shades of emerald, cobalt and teal.
MAC Limited Edition
This collection pays tribute to the Vogue photographer Helmut Newton, who is known for his glamorous and empowering photography. The collection’s outer packaging is said to reflect his work, and includes a shadow quad, nail polish and liquid lipstick. Limited Edition launches online towards the end of the month on the 27th, and in store on November 3rd through December 15th.
Which pieces are you likely to pick up this month? I’m hoping to land the Diwali palette, it is so pretty and a great nod to a different culture. Only wishing that the packaging was a tad more unique, and the same goes for the Limited Edition collection. The quad also seems quite similar to the Brant Brothers collection they did in spring, but I’ll have to compare in person before I go ahead and claim that. Is anyone else a little bummed that we don’t have a real Halloween themed launch this year? I wouldn’t have minded a Jack-O-Lantern highlighter, for example…
*Prices true at time of writing.
