Last Minute Father’s Day Gifts ft. The Art of Shaving & John Varvatos

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages; this is a very important public service announcement to remind you that Father’s Day is coming THIS WEEKEND! Lock the doors, close the windows, and strap on your seat belts, because the Dad Jokes are coming and there’s nothing we can do about it.

In case you’re still scrambling for an idea on just what to get your Papa, I’ve come up with two incredibly handsome gifts that won’t break the bank but will leave a lasting impression. It’s a well-known fact that fathers typically neglect themselves to put their families first, so this June 18th get Dad something to let him know, “Hey, I’m thinking about you.” Both of these gifts are generic enough that most any man will enjoy them, but their quality and “Wow Factor” are impeccably unique. I can tell you that when my dad came sniffing around while I was photographing these he was definitely jealous!

First, help Pops clean up his act with the 4 Elements of the Perfect Shave set in the Sandalwood fragrance from The Art of Shaving. This brand is known for high quality products exclusively for men, and they specialize in light, pleasing scents and gentle formulas. This set, retailing for $91.69* at, contains a full sized pre-shave oil, shaving cream, after-shave balm and 100% badger hair shaving brush (retail value of $150!). It’s a serious step up from Gillette, I’ll tell you that! The scent is a little smoky with a touch of cocoa, perfect for a relaxing spa-like experience with the exfoliating brush. Slap a bow on it and you’re good to go! You might be tempted to borrow a couple of the items yourself, but I won’t judge you.

After the perfect shave, what Daddy dearest needs is a nice new cologne (and by that I mean, we’re all sick of the one he’s worn for 10 years straight). There’s no shortage of awesome scents out there, but it’s hard to find something flattering without ruining the surprise. Go with a safe option like John Varvatos Artisan, inspired by the rock-and-roll fashion designer and created by Rodrigo Flores-Roux in 2009. His signature scent is fresh and a little sweet, a citrusy aquatic blend of Clementine, tangerine, lavender and ginger. It’ll be perfect for work and I guarantee you’ll love it, too. It has a genuine “boy next door” vibe, friendly and cute and daring. The 125 ml bottle is big enough to last even the most liberal sprayer ages, and has serious presence on the bedside table. You can find the bottle alone on for just $34.29*, and with any luck the pictured set will be back in stock in time for your gift (includes a travel sized atomizer and bag).

Still looking for more ideas? has a selection of LAB Series, Clarins, and Biotherm skincare items and sets specifically for the XY chromosomes.
