From the Editor’s Desk: Autumn 2015 Beauty Empties

From the big screen to your iPhone, it’s Gil’s beauty empties! For a few years I recorded my empties for YouTube, but I figured it’d be easier to summarize everything in a nice blog post. Here is, in no particular order, my trash for autumn 2015.

Bath & Body Works Butterfly Flower body lotion ($12.50, Bath & Body Works*): I always enjoy the reformulated B&BW lotions because they are lightweight and do not drag on the skin. This one smells powdery and floral, a little reminiscent of their Enchanted Orchid fragrance. Would repurchase.

Hollister Crescent Bay mist: this is nearly straight-up watermelon. I got sick of it before I could finish the bottle, even though I tried very, very hard to use it. Would not repurchase.

Bath & Body Works Winter Candy Apple mist: after loving it in a PocketBac one year I went for the full bottle last Christmas. Much to my disappointment it was hardly the same scent. Furthermore, I’m starting to wonder just how one is to go through a single one of these ever. Would not repurchase.

Aussie Sun Touched Shine Hi Hold/Hi Shine Spray ($3.43, Aussie*): a good budget option with decent hold. Would repurchase.

Quo Nail Polish Remover Nourishing (Shoppers Drug Mart): as good as any of them! They should sell this by the gallon, not 354 ml. Would repurchase.

Herbal Essences Honey, I’m Strong Strengthening Conditioner ($3.38, Wal-Mart*): reviewed here. Would repurchase.

Gillette Foamy Sensitive Skin Shave Foam ($2.59, Walgreens*): not my favourite facial shaving cream, but it’ll do in a snap for body shaving. Plus, who can resist the foaminess?! May repurchase.

THEFACESHOP Aloe Real Nature Mask ($2, THEFACESHOP*): reviewed here. Would repurchase.

Wet n Wild I’m Getting Sunburned Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99, Wet n Wild*): beautiful colours, but the pigmentation wasn’t what I hoped even before it shattered. Would not repurchase.

Soap and Glory Sweet Coconut A Great Kisser Lip Balm: the best overnight lip balm to ever exist. Naturally, discontinued. Hydration+a punch of gloss. I miss it already. Would repurchase.

Revlon Light Photoready Concealer ($10.99, Ulta*): a pretty good drugstore stick concealer, but not sure about the price per amount. Also has tiny flecks of glitter that I would have wanted to be warned about before investing. Would not repurchase.

Nivea Men Originals Face Care 24H Moisturizer ($7.27, Wal-Mart*): I liked this moisturizer a lot, it’s light and doesn’t feel greasy. Good price as well, only thing I wish is that the ingredients were printed on the actual tube. Would repurchase.

LUSH Cosmetics Santa’s Lip Scrub: sugar mixed with jojoba oil and Coca-Cola flavouring; what more could you ask for? Would repurchase.

Boots Ylang Ylang & Sandalwood Aromatherapy Foaming Bath Essence: do not ask me where this came from or how old it is. Don’t know, don’t care! Loved it anyways. Would repurchase.

Avon Heat Wave Beyond Color Lipstick: this guy melted during an unfortunate photo shoot. Read all about these newbies in my article here.

Have you tried any of these products? What have you been loving this season?
